** local Masters AFL team being launched **

We received a request from Matt Crowe to promote a gathering tomorrow at Club Kirrawee (12 - 2pm) for anyone who is interested to play Masters AFL this

The team will be associated with the local senior club, Southern Power, is open to men older than 32 and will be based out of the redeveloped Waratah Oval in Sutho.

Masters is pretty close to full rules footy, but incorporates some sensible rule modifications to help keep aging "athletes" on the park! I believe the game frequency and scheduling may also be designed considering busy family commitments.

If you want to know more, give Matt a call on 0417586761 or head to Club Kirrawee tomorrow. ... See more

**2018 Committee, Coaches & Team Management announcement**

Our AGM was held last night and I am pleased to convey that it was perhaps the smoothest and easiest Community Sporting Club AGM that I

Our finances are in good shape, noting that a well managed canteen, Club Central Menai sponsorship and a couple of effective fund-raising events have supplemented registration income and enabled us to keep fees low.

All of the "role holding" members renominated and were elected back into those roles, so we have a high level of consistency on the committee. We minuted our appreciation to Penny Meyer who has retired after a number of years and welcomed 1 new General Member, Ross Manolas.

As I have previously communicated, we do need to attract (encourage?) some parents or grand-parents from our youngest age groups and the only critical committee role that remains vacant is the Auskick Coordinator, though we would love to add a sponsorship focused member and a couple of new general members as well.

Please give me a call (0407275470), email (president@bangortigersjafc.com.au) or shoot me a message through FB if you might have an interest. Please feel free to "tag" people in the comments of this message that you think I should talk to or those that might just need a little bit of encouragement to take on a role.

**$100 Active Kids Voucher + rego info**

Some of you will be aware that the Government is launching a program in 2018 that will provide a $100 voucher to be used towards your kid's sporting

This article was published in The Leader yesterday as an awareness creation piece, taking known facts taken from the NSW Office of Sport fact sheet.

There is a date error in the Leader article stating that the voucher will be available from Jan 1. Our advice is that applications for the voucher will open from Jan 31.

We are currently waiting on advice from the AFL as to how exactly to administer the voucher, but what is clear is that we will need to push for player registrations as usual through December and January, but hold off on taking payment for registration until the voucher system goes live on Jan 31.

Please don't hold back from completing registration for the 2018 season based on waiting for the voucher. We need registrations in the system, as usual, to be able to confirm our teams well before voucher applications go live.

Registration is now open for the 2018 season and we are seeing a trickle of regos coming through. Thankyou and please keep them coming.

We have simplified our Junior/Youth registration fees this year and kept our Auskick rego the same as last year. 2nd family member gets a $20 discount and the 3rd family member is free.

Auskick (up to U8) - $135
Junior (U9 - U12) - $150
Youth (U13 up) - $170

When you factor in the $100 Active Kids Voucher it is super-cheap to play the greatest game in the world 🐅

Please also note, if your child was born in 2009 this is the year they transition from the Auskick database into the Junior system - please click the Jnr link rather than Auskick registration. ... See more

** Junior and Youth Girls - Come and Try Day **

Following a terrific 2017 year in terms of growth for female footy, the AFL are introducing an U10 "girls only" competition this season to add to the

As part of the build towards the 2018 season there will be opportunities for girls in the Bangor Tigers JAFC community to meet others that are interested to explore AFL as a sporting option.

Check out this "Come and Try Day" in Sutherland - it is in 2 weeks time and is running from 5.30 -7.00pm. Bangor players, friends and family are all welcome - there will be activities for girls from 8 to 17 years old.

Any local girls who have given thought to playing footy - this will be a great chance to meet other sporty girls with an interest in footy and those that are involved in running the competition.

If we had enough girls interested, the Bangor Tigers would definitely launch a team!! Though in the absence of a Tigers team, I can highly recommend Southern Power AFC who are leading the way locally in female footy #favourites ... See more

** email sent to all club families today re 2018 preparations**

Hi Tigers Families

We had a very full turn out at the 2017 Presentation, a great celebration of a terrific year for our kids and we

This email is to reach out, particularly to our younger families.

The Bangor Tigers have passionate and committed parents as Committee Members, Coaches and Managers who are almost all returning and will keep the club growing in a consistent and positive direction. However, as families move into older age groups and as some retire from junior sport, we need to keep adding to the Committee from our younger ages each year.

General Committee Members - It is important we have representation across our ages. Given 100% of the Executive Group will return to their 2017 roles, there is no pressure to take a significant role in your first committee year.
Our AGM is in 3 weeks; 7.30pm Wednesday 22nd November at Club Menai.

Please give some thought to joining. The commitment is to contribute your thoughts at a monthly meeting and represent the views and needs of your children’s age group as we make decisions that will affect their experience as a Bangor Tiger.
Please lift the phone to me or any other Committee Member if you would like to find out more.

Auskick Coordinator – Sascha Bass has been wonderful in this role over several years, though in 2018 Sascha and Shaun’s youngest son, Lachlan, will be in his final AK year, Shaun will be coaching the U11s in their first competitive season and Sascha will be the Manager of that team.

Ideally our new Coordinator will come from the younger Auskick years and provide continuity over the next couple of seasons. I have seen this role managed in different ways and an important note is that you can shape it to your availability and needs. Everyone puts their own stamp on it.

The role is the conduit between the AFL, our Committee and our families. Occasional Regional Coordinators meetings and our Committee Meetings are the major time commitments, as well as working with the AK Coaches and Club Committee to make sure we have the resources in place for home games and that we have a “go to” person for Swans visits, ½ time on the SCG and similar events.

Again, please lift the phone if you would like to chat it through, or shoot me a reply email if you have any questions.

Playing a role in your kids footy club is a terrifically rewarding thing to do and from my own experience it really enhances my boys enjoyment of being in the club. I think it contributes to them feeling strongly that it is their club.

I know you will be immersed in summer sport right now, but the offseason is when we need to fill these positions, so please give me a call if you have an interest.
